Online video calling platforms are a great tool for businesses which aim to improve collaboration. There are many different features which these websites, such as Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Webex, offer to help with this goal.
Some of these features include:
Interactive whiteboards to help share ideas. If a group is discussing a new project, interacting on a whiteboard would give the opportunity for all members to share their thoughts and inspire others.
Microphone feature allowing all people to speak. This can greatly improve collaboration as it is much easier to listen to other people's ideas than to constantly read the chat whilst focusing on the main speaker. It allows people to have a real-time conversation relating to the topic and allows all members to participate much quicker.
Captions in different languages can make it easier for people from all over the world participate and share their ideas. A user is able to turn captions on and switch them to their native language which will allow them to read quicker and understand the conversation.
Breakout rooms are designed specifically for collaboration and sharing ideas. These are smaller groups that members from the meeting are split into and can discuss the topic at hand. As there are less people in these rooms, it gives users more time to share their ideas and it always less intimidating to share thoughts in front of a few people rather than a huge group meeting.
In-meeting file uploads allow members to share work they have previously completed with others. This feature helps when discussing a certain topic for which extensive research is needed or an essay-based subject in school. Other users can comment on the file and give real-time feedback as they read through.
All of these features can help to improve engagement and allow all members to get involved, which will ultimately benefit the business as the more collaboration and team work, the more innovation this will bring.
